The time has come...this is the week of Passione Caracciola 2018...Gentleman Start your engines! Passione Caracciola, 20th-24th June 2018 Geneva - Interlaken - Bad Ragas - St.Moritz #PassioneCaracciola #CaracciolaCommunity #ReadyToGo
MechatronikThe CLK GTR Engine is absolutely stunning! The naturally aspirated 6.9l M297 V12 engine generates 612 HP and a torque of 731 Nm. Good for 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 320 km/h. Passione Caracciola shared Mechatronik's post.
A Fiat 8V is always something to look, look and re-look. An incredible and unique car made by Fiat in the '50s, from 1952 to 1954 in only 114 copies including special versions. A very rare car. In 1947, the president of Fiat Vittorio Valletta summoned Dante Giacosa to commission him to build a car suitable for the US market; a commercial-political initiative agreed with the Italian President De Gasperi, as a symbolic thanksgiving for the promised "Marshall Plan". Trying to reduce the technological effort (the production facilities, badly hit by the bombardments of the Second World War, barely managed to churn out limited series of models designed twenty years earlier) Valletta proposed to make an eight-cylinder engine, to avoid the well-known balancing difficulties of a six-cylinder engine. Furthermore, this fractionation allowed to reuse or test components of large production models. Once the engine was produced, the project was blocked ...
This Green Mercedes-Benz 280 SL will be with us during Passione Caracciola 2018. The 280 SL was introduced in December 1967 and continued in production through 23 February 1971, when the W 113 was replaced by its successor, the entirely new and substantially heavier R107 350 SL. Over the years, the W 113 evolved from a sports car into a comfortable grand tourer, and US models were by then usually equipped with the 4-speed automatic transmission and air conditioning. Manual transmission models came with the standard 4-speed or the optional ZF 5-speed, which was ordered only 882 times and thus is a highly sought-after original option today. In Europe, manual transmissions without air conditioning were still the predominant choice. Of the 23,885 280 SLs produced, more than half were sold in the US. On the British automotive TV show Top Gear the 280 SL was notably described by Jeremy Clarkson ...

Please take a look at this car. It is not a picture shooted in Germany in the '50s. It is today. Look how astonishing this Mercedes-Benz 190 SL from the 1955 is. The colour is incredible. We're so pleased to have it and his driver at the start in Geneva for the Passione Caracciola 2018. Following the success of the 300 SL coupe and roadster, Mercedes-Benz's U.S. importer, Max Hoffman, suggested that a similarly styled, less costly alternative might be successful. The resulting car was the 190 SL, and it featured styling that was derived from its elder sibling, which many an enthusiast adored but only few could afford. The car proved to be popular with the public at the 1954 New York Auto Show, and it remained in strong demand throughout its nine-year production run. The 190SL appears in more than 300 movies or TV-Series, including The Saint, Starsky ...

Sometimes someone ask us if Passione Caracciola is a Mercedes-Benz only regularity Rally. Our answer is no! We welcome every type of brand. So today we're glad to have with us a car that is a myth: the Ferrari 365 GTB/4 “Daytona”. The unofficial Daytona name is reported to have been applied by the media to commemorate Ferrari's 1-2-3 finish in the February 1967 24 Hours of Daytona with a 330 P3/4, a 330 P4 and a 412 P. To this day, Ferrari itself only rarely refers to the 365 as the "Daytona", and refer to it as an "unofficial” name. It was introduced at the Paris Auto Salon in 1968 to replace the 275 GTB/4, maintaining the same engine, the Colombo V12 bored out to 4.4 L. The bodywork (doors and bonnets were made of aluminum) setted sporty and elegant, designed by Leonardo Fioravanti for Pininfarina, covered a chassis ...

Welcome at this beautiful white 300SL roadster. By the late 1950s, open-top two-seaters were so popular that Mercedes-Benz decided to convert the 300 SL (W 198). In spring 1957 the legendary “Gullwing” was succeeded by the 300 SLRoadster, thus bringing the thrill of open-top driving to the range of high performance sports cars. The 300 SL was the very first fuel-injected car on the consumer market, and was the fastest car in the world in its day. Equipped with a new rear axle design, this model boasted state-of-the-art handling characteristics and in 1961 became also the first Mercedes-Benz production car to be given disc brakes on all four wheels. The Gull-wing version was on the market from 1955 to 1957, and the roadster from 1957 to 1963. Like its sister, the roadster it is part of the collective imagination and it was part of a lot of movies, like 1964 ...

We want to welcome back to Passione Caracciola the most desirable and collectable post-war Mercedes-Benz grand tourer. Only 53 hand-built between 1955 and 1958 The 300 Sc (W188) appeared in 1955, featuring upgrades to both its engine and suspension. Following the high-performance 300SL Gullwing's lead a year earlier, the Sc's inline-six received a version of its mechanical direct fuel-injection, which delivered a slightly detuned 175 PS (129 kW; 173 hp) at 5400 rpm. Mercedes-Benz's "low-pivot" independent suspension was fitted in the rear. Only a pair of chrome strips on either side of the hood visually distinguished it from its precursor. This is Passione Caracciola 2018! #PassioneCaracciola2018 #CaracciolaCommunity
We're glad to have for the very first time in the history of Passione Caracciola an Aston Martin DB2, in this case a red model from the 1952! Classic British cars are really welcome to Passione Caracciola! The Aston Martin DB2 was produced from 1950 to 1953. A total amount of only 411 cars were made in this period. The DB2 was based on an Aston Martin which drove the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1949. The final introduction of the DB2 was at the New York Autoshow in 1950. One of the first model, tested by the British magazine The Motor in 1950, had a top speed of 116.4 mph (187.3 km/h) and could accelerate from 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in 11.2 seconds. A fuel consumption of 20 miles per imperial gallon (14 L/100 km; 17 mpg‑US) was recorded. The test car cost £1914 including taxes. #PassioneCaracciola2018 #CaracciolaCommunity
We welcome this Porsche 911T in the roster of Passione Caracciola 2018! Remember, only few places left! The well-known Porsche 911 is a car that pass through different eras. The 1973 models are the last that maintain the design launched in the 1963 with minimal differences. Starting from 1974 Porsche started to update a little bit his successful model. The 911T was carbureted, except in the US where it used a mechanical fuel injection like on the 911E and S, which accounts for the 7 kW (9 hp) power difference between the two. With the power and torque increases, the '71-'73 2.4 L cars also got a newer, stronger transmission, identified by its Porsche type number 915. Derived from the transmission in the Porsche 908 race car, the 915 did away with the 901/911 transmission's "dog-leg" style first gear arrangement, opting for a traditional H pattern with first gear up ...

We're always happy when a driver subscribe a Lancia for our regularity rallies. A brand that in his history has produced such a great number of astonishing cars. Here a wonderful Flaminia Touring GT from 1963 in the classic Lancia Blue. The first examples of the Flaminia GT were exposed to the public for the first time at the XV Motor Show in Turin that opens November 5, 1958: there are three versions, all in the form of coupes, very different from each other and made by Pininfarina, Touring and Zagato. Carrozzeria Touring designed and built an aluminum bodied two-door versions, which can be easily distinguished by their four round headlights. Starting from 1959 the Flaminia GT passed through 3 series until 1965 (although it remained in the automaker's catalog until 1968.). There are a lot of examples of Flaminia GT in the media industry, from Italian to Hollywood film ...
On this day, in 1901, Rudolf Caracciola was born in Remagen, Germania, fourth child of Maximilian and Mathilde Caracciola. This day, 117 years ago it was the beginning of the life of a myth in the racing world. Happy Birthday Rudy! #RudolfCaracciola #PassioneCaracciola #CaracciolaCommunity #Birthday #HappyBirthday
Eighty years ago, on January 28, 1938, in a Mercedes-Benz W 125 with streamlined bodywork, Rudolf Caracciola took the world public road speed record to 432.7 km per hour. The car, with a chassis from a W125 racing car and a 12 cylinder, 5.6 litre, 736 HP engine set the record on the motorway between Frankfurt and Darmstadt. One curious detail: a small box containing 100kg of ice was mounted on the vehicle to cool the engine, this was just enough for a single attempt. We welcome back this 70s car produced in Maranello in 1971. The Ferrari 365 GTC/4 is a 2+2 grand tourer produced by Ferrari from 1971 to 1972. It was based on the chassis of the Ferrari 365 GTB/4 "Daytona". Its chassis and drivetrain, however, were carried over mostly unaltered (apart from a wheelbase stretch to provide more satisfying rear seat room) on its successor, the 1972 365 GT4 2+2. In the very short two-year production run 505 examples of the GTC/4 were produced, all of them coupés. Ferrari never produced a Spider version of the 365 GTC/4 and only fews were converted in a spider version by some Ferrari's specialists in the world. Judging how well appears this model, probably tha Maranello's factory should have considered the convertible model. A V12-engined Ferrari ready to compete in the next Passione Caracciola. #PassioneCaracciola #PassioneCaracciola2018 #CaracciolaCommunity #ClassicCar
